Long Island City, NY
This project for a 200-key hotel was one of the first Aloft properties which established Starwood’s green select service brand as an eco-conscious, upscale yet affordable offering. Working collaboratively with Starwood’s prototype design team, the Aloft standards were adapted for this dense urban site. The building’s dynamic façade serves as a beacon for its destination with its metal panels “peeling” away from the glass to create depth. The multiplicity of elements also serves to moderate the building’s full block scale. The hotel included a three-story, 12,000 SF banquet and business center, self-serve food and beverage facility and breakfast bar, as well as a 4,500 SF independently operated rooftop indoor-outdoor restaurant bar to appeal to the contemporary business and leisure traveler.
